Collapse Of Communisim

Communism was a system used to run a nation or a government. It was a failed way to run a government. Some of the European countries like Ches republic, china and the soviet Union but soon most of the Communist countries changed there government to like a democracy. One main reason why communism collapsed is because of the way the money was used and how the land was owned , which messed up most of the life styles. The cold war proved that communism was the primitive way to run a country because even though the soviet Union was able to build weapons fast and able to keep up with America it was only the matter of time till there economy collapsed and communism falls in Russia. In 1990 it fell in Russia.

Other countries also started to disown Communism and it started to fall all over Europe. Except in Cuba and north Korea. There is still some what communism left in china.

Mandela South Africa

Back in Africa it was brutal how some of the Africans were treated like slaves because of there skin color and how they look. They basically all had the same jobs making barley anything or making nothing as slaves for the "white man" people say. Mandela was trying to stop it in a way he was the Gandhi of the Africans or at least try to. He was the leader of a underground group called the African national Congress. While he was in the group he was sentenced in prison for life in 1964. The reason why is because they wanted him to stay quiet and they didn't want a revolt against the Apartheid government. After 27 years of imprisonment and his people still fighting the government he was freed in 1990 which meant the end of the corrupt government.

After that he was awarded the noble peace prize and elected president of south Africa.

African Independence

The African people were slaves to Europe for a while. what happened is that different nations in Europe came over in Africa and took over the land , they set up there own political boundaries. What they did was that they went to there land got resources to make back in Europe to sell back. It was like a big source of income. For example Cecil Rhodes took over what is now called Zimbabwe and he named it Rhodesia. He basically used Africans has slaves to get elephants tusks and rubber trees to make rubber.

After world war II the British were going to set up a government in Africa but sooner or later it was costing too much money to keep on coming back and fort. Controlling the country was being expensive so they gave Africa there Independence.

The Right Stuff

In this movie it talks about the space race which basically a race to get people into space. In this race there was America and Russia or the soviet union. It started when America reached Mach 1 which was surpassing 750 miles per hour which was a huge accomplishment. The reason why is because once you pass 750 mph you break the sound barrier. Once USSR launched the first satellite which was called sputnik America was scared because we thought they could fire nuclear bombs at us from there. Then we started to develop a rocket that would take us into space, it took a while but we finally developed a rocket that took us to space but a monkey was inside which upset ed the astronauts.

After that the Russians sent the first man into space which got some people angry. The Russians were winning the space race but we developed our ships so well we were the first people on the moon. Also Russia feel because of the economy and communism.

NATO and the Warsaw Pact

NATO is a group of European and north America alliance. The reason for NATO was that the countries involved wanted a mutual defense alliance so that if one of them were attacked all of the other countries in NATO would come to help. If Russia attacked U.S NATO would attack Russia. The Warsaw pact was basically the Soviet Union and it was a arm race between Russian and America. We started making weapons which were mostly nukes. We came up with a new bomb called the H- bomb which was short for hydrogen bomb which was stronger than the atomic bomb. America and Russia kept on making them but never used them because they were scared that if one is fired there would be a nuclear war it would destroy all life on the earth. That's another reason why NATO was there to back up America. Soon the Russia economy fell proving that Communism was a bad type of way to rule a country.

Schindler's List

Schindler's list was a good movie and captured powerful moments of the holocaust. The scene which caught my eye the most was when the kids were hiding from going to aucwitz. Some of them were hiding in the latrine were all the excretes of all the Jews were and they were willing to hide there it must of been bad what happened. The main parts of the film that will stay with me is when they killed a little kid for hiding it got me thinking it was so heartless what they were doing because i have a baby brother and if something happened to him it would be devastating. In a way I feel for the victims the survivors of it have the worst memories or even nightmares. What happened was a tragedy shouldn't happen to anyone or any race.

Night and Fog

Night and fog was a french documentary on auchwitz and the holocaust. The scenes in this documentary was horrific and it was more worst than the movie because it was actually pictures that were real. They showed how the beds were and how they lived for just being Jew and no one in there right mind would do something so inhumanity without going insane or be already. In Schindler's list they went deep into how Schindler helped people and what happened to Jew's everyday. Most of the information in Schindler's list was accurate but there was really graphic images in both films. I think that Night and Fog would be better if it went deeper into the holocaust. I Think both are the same and I would rather watch Schindler's list because i goes deep in the Holocaust so i feel the pain of the six million Jew's that were murdered from the Nazis.

The Treaty of Versailles (ended WW I)

The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty because Germany lost the war and France wrote the treaty. If they did not agree with France they would declare war on Germany. It basically blamed the whole war on Germany and made them pay for all the damages for the war. Germany had to pay France, England and America. the funny thing is that Germany isn't the blame for the war it was Austria hungry because they killed France Frediand.

The main problem for Germany was that they had to pay compensation for the war but they did not have a lot of money to pay for the war because they used most of there money for the war. They went into a depression that messed up there economy for a couple of years. Until Adolf Hitler came into the picture he helped little by little the economy building bridges, roads and buildings. The people didn't know that he was crazy and was going to try to wipe out the whole Jewish population in the world. So you can say that because of the treaty it started World War II

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was the founder of the Turkish people and the first President, he stood as a towering figure of the 20Th Century. He was one of the great leaders of history, few have achieved so inspiration to the world at large. In the short period, he changed the life of a nations decisively, and given such profound. Ataturk means father of the Turks so he was the founder in a way and he was like the Gandhi of Turkey. He used civil disobedience and passive resistant to change the country to make it more like European countries. He decided to make the Fez illegal because he wanted turkey to be like Europe So the Turkish people had to wear trousers, drees shirt, ties and rimmed hat.

He made the Turkey republic in 1923 which he was the ruler of. He even had a language reform which was one of the hardest reforms people believe because they had to learn a whole new language. He changed Arabic writing and language in Latin which was the language of Europe. He asked experts about long would it take to reform the language they said five years and he said yes but in five months.

The Russian Revolution

The Russian revolution was in 1917 there were many series of smaller of revolutions but people wanted to change Russia into a communist country. The big revolutions was in February Revolution and the October Revolution. The February Revolution took away
Tsar Nicholas II from power. The October Revolution was also called the Bolshevik Revolution they overturned the government and established the Soviet Union. The October Revolution was by a small group of people.

In early March, the Provisional Government placed Nicholas and his family under house arrest in the Alexander Palace at 15 miles south of Petrograd. When he was removed from power so Communism could take control of Russia but it was a bad idea because it hurt the country in the long run. They were were a communist country for about 75 years until 1990 because they realized that it was hurting the country.

Cause Of World War One

They were main cause to the beginning of WWI is the assassination of Franz Ferdinand . He was assassinated by a Serbian who was part of the black hand clan. The alliance system collapsed so it was like a big domino effect. When Austria-Hungry declared war on Serbia all of the Serbians allies declared war on Austria. On July 29, Russia ordered a army only against Austria-Hungary to help Serbia.

Upon being asked by Germany what it would do in the event of a Russo-German War, France responded that it would act in its own interests and mobilized. Even Japan was in the war but didn't get too many troops mobilized. Germany was having tench warfare against France and great Britain. During the holidays in the first year of the war they had a cease fire in the holiday spirit because they thought the war wouldn't last long. America joined the war only to help great Britain which president Wilson had good relationship with. they won the war and a peace treaty was established.
